House Clearing

My uncle used to make a bit on the side from doing car boot sales and he got a fair bit of his stock doing house clearances. I suppose when old folks had died there families paid him to take there stuff away either that or what he took was his payment I dont know the ins and outs.

Anyway he had some real finds on the coin front, and I benefited because he would give me the ones he couldn't be bothered trying to sell.

I remember In one house he found a carrier bag full of Halfpennies from between 1900d and the 1960's which he gave to me. I thought that was a pretty decent result as some of the later ones were in near perfect condition, they must have been put in the bag brand new. The others looked as if they ha been in continues circulation since they were made right up until the 1960's so many wern't great although there were a good many examples that were fine to very fine.

He also gave me a tin he had also found in the house that had a few brass three-penny bits in. He told me the rest of the coins that had been in the box had been silver so he was hanging onto those. :favorites21:

I carn't remember what he did find in the box but he seemed very pleased with himself, think he said there had been 7 half-crowns, a load of shillings, sixpences and silver threepenny bits.

Makes you wonder what else he found.
